Along with Cash coverage, UIC also offers built-in Shop Secure Plan Plus Accident Protection for the Proposer or ONE person related to shop operations nominated by the Proposer. In case of death or permanent disability, arising out of an accident on shop premises, UIC will pay the insured or beneficiary Rs. 100,000/- (In case of death, other benefits below):

  • SEGMENT 1: Provides financial protection against death, permanent total and permanent partial disability caused by and occurring within 12 months of an accident.
  • SEGMENT 2: Provides for medical expenses arising out of an accident any where in the world.
  • SEGMENT 3: Provides for medical expenses of surgical operations due to illness. The procedure must involve an overnight stay at a registered hospital or clinic in Pakistan. This segment excludes any expenses in respect of health conditions existing at inception of cover.
  • SEGMENT 4: Provides or repatriation and burial expenses following death due to natural causes anywhere in the world. This Segment excludes death due to health conditions existing at inception of cover.
  • The maximum age for new cover SSP-49 years. However in case of existing covers age starting at least 3 years before the 50th birthday the cover may continue till 55 years.

What is self-health insurance?

You will need to submit medical bills, hospital receipts, and a detailed medical report to claim medical expenses related to an accident or surgery.
Is there a time limit for filing a claim after an accident?
Yes, the claim for accidental death or disability must be made within 12 months of the accident.
Can I claim for medical expenses if the treatment was done abroad?
Yes, Segment 2 of the plan provides coverage for medical expenses arising out of accidents occurring anywhere in the world.
How do I claim burial or repatriation expenses?
To claim for burial or repatriation, provide proof of death and other relevant documents. Coverage is provided globally, except in cases of pre-existing health conditions at the start of the plan.
What does the Self-Secure Plan cover?
The plan covers accidental death, permanent disability, medical expenses (accident-only), inpatient surgical expenses (illness-only), and burial/repatriation following death due to natural causes.
What is the coverage limit for accidental death or permanent disability?
For the Gold plan, the maximum benefit is Rs. 500,000, while the Platinum plan offers a maximum of Rs. 1,000,000.
What is the coverage for inpatient surgical expenses due to illness?
The Gold plan covers up to Rs. 25,000 with an excess of Rs. 1,000, while the Platinum plan covers up to Rs. 50,000 with the same excess.
Are medical expenses for accidents covered globally?
Yes, medical expenses resulting from accidents are covered anywhere in the world under Segment 2 of the plan.
What is the burial and repatriation benefit?
The Gold plan offers Rs. 50,000 for burial and repatriation, while the Platinum plan offers Rs. 100,000, covering death due to natural causes anywhere in the world.
How long can I continue my self-health insurance plan?
If you start your coverage at least three years before turning 50, you can continue renewing the plan until the age of 55.
How do I renew my self-health insurance plan?
You can renew the plan annually by paying the required premium before the expiry date. Renewal is subject to terms and conditions of the insurer.
Is there an age limit for renewing the plan?
The maximum age to start a new plan is 49 years. However, if you have an existing plan starting before 50, you can renew it until the age of 55.
Will my premium increase upon renewal?
Premiums are based on age brackets, so as you move to an older age group, your premium may increase at the time of renewal.
Can I switch between the Gold and Platinum plans during renewal?
Yes, you can choose to upgrade or downgrade your plan (Gold to Platinum or vice versa) at the time of renewal, subject to the insurer’s terms.
